From June 1, the RTO would launch a drive and action would be taken against those who have not adhered to the instructions.The move follows the decision of police to take action against autorickshaw owners who give their vehicles on rent without verifying the criminal background of the drivers.
The rickshaw owners should take the sticker from the agency and put it on the vehicle for easy perusal of police or RTO officers as well as passengers.Officials said they have set a deadline of May 31 for autorickhaw owners to put the sticker on their vehicles.
Such vehicles are brought to the RTO and then scrapped.Display name of permit holder and driver:The RTO has made it mandatory for autorickshaw drivers in the city to put up a sticker with details of the permit holder and the driver.Officials said they have appointed an agency to provide the stickers.
They have also asked the owners and drivers to carry the relevant documents while plying in the district.Senior officials said a large number of autorickshaws continued to operate in the district despite crossing the age of 20 years.Officials said if they find such vehicles on the roads, they would seize them.
Nashik: The regional transport office (RTO) will launch a crack down on Monday against autorickshaws which are 20-year-old and still operating in the district.Two years ago, the RTO has decided to ban autorickshaws and taxis above the age of 20 years from the date of registration given the risk of developing mechanical snags and threat to the lives of passengers.The officials have asked the rickshaw and taxi owners to cancel the registration of their vehicles if they have crossed 20 years.
