Nashik: Two cases of assault on traffic constables were registered in the city on Friday.In one case, constable Bapu Jagtap was performing his duty at the old Central Bus Stand (CBS) on Friday around 4.30pm when Shravan Khode (38) came inside the cabin of the traffic police and uttered something.Jagtap could not understand what he Khode was saying. When he went close to Khode, he noticed that the latter was under the influence of alcohol. So, he asked Khode to go out of the cabin.Khode got angry with this and allegedly started abusing Jagtap. He also knocked Jagtap down and kicked and punched him. Khode was arrested later.In another case, constable Vilas Kotme was on his duty near the Datta Mandir signal in Nashik Road on Friday around 11am, when he saw a juvenile driving an autorickshaw carrying four persons on the rear seat and two in the front seat.Kotme signalled the juvenile to stop the vehicle as the latter was not only operating the autorickshaw with passengers on the front seat but also not wearing the uniform.The youth attempted to escape from the spot by hitting Kotme. However, he was stopped by another constable. The youth held the constable by his collar, heckled him and abused him.Police said the 17-year-old juvenile was detained and later handed over to his parents.
