Police maintain vigil in all 5 dists of Nashik range

Nashik: Police are bracing to ensure that polling passes peacefully across the districts of Nashik Range. There are 60 critical polling booths in Nashik district, which include 43 in city limits and 17 under the jurisdiction of Nashik Rural police, Jalgaon has 28, Nandurbar three and Dhule 37. “Apart from strict action against criminals and mischief mongers, we have started to make arrangements to show that different parts of Jalgaon district are being strictly policed. Ahmednagar police said critical booths were not finalised so far in their jurisdiction.Sagar Patil, Additional SP, Ahmednagar said, “We have started taking preventive measures against criminals on police record. SP Vishwas Pandhare of Dhule said police teams have visited all 37 critical polling booths under their jurisdiction and route marches have been held to show police domination and deter criminal elements.

Preventive action is being initiated against those with a criminal history, and strict vigil is being maintained to check the ferrying of arms, cash and liquor.Police teams are visiting booths that have been listed as critical. There are 60 critical polling booths in Nashik district, which include 43 in city limits and 17 under the jurisdiction of Nashik Rural police, Jalgaon has 28, Nandurbar three and Dhule 37. Additionally, patrolling has also been stepped up across the district to ensure there are no illegal businesses in operation. Nakabandis, checking vehicles, etc has also been stepped up throughout the district.” Patil, however, added that the critical booths were yet to be finalized.Meanwhile, SP Arti Singh of Nashik Rural said strict action was being taken against illegal businesses all across the district. “A large number of weapons, illegal liquor, etc has been seized in the past few weeks. The vigil will remain constant all through, to see that elections are held on a peaceful note.”SP Arti Singh on Saturday conducted a meeting of Police Patils across the district to sensitize them to the importance of their role in working closely with police to ensure free and fair elections.SP Panjabrao Ugle of Jalgaon said the security situation at all 28 critical booths under their jurisdiction has been assessed. “Apart from strict action against criminals and mischief mongers, we have started to make arrangements to show that different parts of Jalgaon district are being strictly policed. Jalgaon will get additional police bandobast just ahead of elections. Currently, we are focusing on ensuring there is no illegal transportation of liquor, arms or money.”Police bandobast has been set-up round-the-clock at seven inter-state posts, and all vehicles are being checked. MP police, Ugle added, is doing a similar drill on the other side.
