Rise of Rs 1000 in the Wages and Rs 500 Covid Allowance for Asha Workers: Maha Govt

Finally, the Asha Workers protest have come to an end as the minister announces relief. 

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope today announced that Asha Workers will get an increment of Rs 1000 in their wages and Rs 500 as Covid19 allowance per month from Next Month. A Smart Phone will also be given to them. 

The Asha Workers withdrew a week-long protest after the announcement of the Minister as this relief package will benefit more than 68 thousand health activists. 

The Asha workers who have lost their kin will be getting the compensation of 50 lakh, said the minister. 

Asha workers helping at vaccination centres to manage crowds will get an additional Rs 200 allowance, he said.

“The family members of Asha workers who have died due to Covid-19 will get a compensation of Rs 50 lakh. The data compilation work is going on and the government is trying to settle such claims at the earliest,” Tope said.

Their family members will also get free Covid-19 treatment at state-run hospitals.
