Nashik: More than 12,000 residential, commercial and industrial MSEDCL power consumers in the Ambad area of the city are likely to face power interruptions for a prolonged period of about two months due to a technical snag in the substation, though alternative arrangements are being made.Since Thursday, when the new gas insulated substation (GIS) of the transmission company at Ambad developed a technical snag, consumers have been facing power interruptions of more than 3 hours almost every day. This is the fourth consecutive day that we have not had power between 8 am and noon. This has become a daily feature now and is disrupting our routine. We have to pump water from the groundwater tank to the overhead water tank of the building that has 24 residents, said Sanjay Kadam, a resident of a housing society in the Kamatwada region. It may be noted that the industrialists in the city had marched to the office of the Maharashtra state electricity distribution company demanding quality supply on Friday. The power supply was again interrupted on Tuesday at 8.30am for an hour, said Ritesh Jha, an entrepreneur in the Ambad area.Nashik superintendent engineer DH Padalkar said the issue started when an earthmover hit an underground cable and that caused a short circuit. This had a cascading effect on the power feeders, which include a series of power lines and transformers. There was a problem that led to the tripping of our lines and bursting of wires after over-heating. But the problem worsened when the new GIS substation of the MSETCL developed a technical snag. We have arranged for power from alternative sources. But since the existing supply lines are unable to bear the load, almost every morning, during the peak hours, they trip. We are planning to replace these wires, said Padalkar. The MSETCL officer said the GIS was in warranty period , therefore, they immediately called the officers concerned. The engineers of the company said it was a rare case. It would take at least two months to get the component from Germany. Till then, they have made alternative arrangements of an air insulated system (AIS) for us. The work on the installation will be completed by Saturday. People are likely to get assured power supply from Sunday, said Praveen Bhalerao, the superintendent engineer of MSETCL.We also published the following articles recentlyPower outage on two days irks industrialists in AmbadOver 300 entrepreneurs in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporations (MIDC) Ambad industrial area are frustrated by long power outages on two consecutive days.
