Nashik cops nab one more in Samangaon MD drug case

Nashik: The Nashik police have arrested one more person from Kozhikode in Kerala in the Samangaon MD drug case.This is the 12th arrest in the case. The accused is identified as Mohammad Arjas MT, a resident of Kozhikode in Kerala.According to the police, Mohammad allegedly supplied chemicals required for preparing the MD drug to the main accused, Sunny Pagare.Pagare had set up a drug manufacturing unit in Solapur. On September 7 this year, the Nashik Road police registered a case under the NDPS Act after they found a youth in the Samangaon Road area carrying 12.5 gm of mephedrone, commonly known as MD, with him.During the course of the investigation of the Samangaon MD case, the police arrested 10 other persons, from whom a huge quantity of MD was seized. The MD drug and other chemicals and equipment seized from the manufacturing unit and the drugs seized from the accused at the time of their arrest were to the tune of over Rs 10 crore.Recently, the police also charged all 11 arrested accused with the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The police are investigating how Sunny Pagare got in contact with Mohammad Arjas, who started supplying chemicals to the former for preparing MD. An encounter took place between the accused and police near Tibba road.
