MSEDCL to appoint local people to look into supply issues in villages

NASHIK: Maharashtra State Eletricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will appoint a gram vidyut vyavasthapak to manage issues related to power supply in villagesThere are over 1,500 villages where locals will be appointed as gram vidyut vyavasthapak or village electricity supply manager to shoulder the responsibility.According to the Government Resolution, adopted on October 20, 2016, the vyavasthapak will hail from the same village. He will be given an honorarium for carrying out all jobs as a 'manager' for the village with strength of up to 3,000 agriculture as well as domestic consumers. "Interested candidates can apply to the grampanchayat which will further decide upon the appointment and send the confirmation to the power utility," Deepak Kumthekar , MSEDCL chief general manager, said.MSEDCL is short of line staff to maintain power supply issues in smaller villages as one line staff has to manage more than one or three villages which are spread over a huge distance. "Candidates who wish to work as vyavasthapak should complete their Industrial Training Institute (ITI) with electrical trade, or should have a better knowledge of electricity and should have passed SSC with Marathi as a language," a senior officer said.Nashik Zone - comprising Nashik, Malegaon and Ahmednagar circles, has around 1,500 villages with a population up to 3,000 people.
