Nashik's Puja bags single scull gold

NASHIK: Nineteen-year-old Puja Sanap clinched the singles scull gold in the 20th Sub-Junior and 2nd Challenger Sprint National rowing championships held in Kolkata from June 5 to 11.Maharashtra bagged the overall championship with Puja's Water's Edge Club teammates also grabbing the bronze in seniors coxless four (Aishwarya Shinde, Dhanashree Gowardhane, Puja Jadhav and Puja Tambe) and juniors coxed four (Vaishnavi Galande, Gayatri Galande, Nidhi Bhosale, Vaishnavi Gadekar and Sidhi Khaire).Puja, a student of Panchvati College, trains with coach Ambadas Tambe , who is also Maharashtra coach. "It was very tough event in extremely humid conditions, but Puja kept her composure and determination to bag the gold," said Tambe.Ajinkya, Sharayu for Asian fencingNational gold medalist Ajinkya Dudhare and bronze medal winner Sharayu Patil of Nashik have made it to the Indian squad for the Asian fencing championships to be held at Hong Kong from June 15 to 20.A 24-member-strong Indian team of 12 men and as many women will participate in epee, sabre and foil-events.Ajinkya, 28, will take part in the epee event while Sharayu, 19, will compete in the foil.Both are coached by Raju Shinde
