NASHIK: Illegal hoardings would hopefully be razed very soon as Nashik Municipal Corporation NMC ) has issued notices to agencies for more than 122 illegal hoardings across the city.The agencies have been warned of punitive action if they do not pay up the hoarding tax and obtain the necessary permission for erecting the hoardings. Surveys are being conducted to locate illegal hoardings in the city.The civic administration came under the scanner in recent times with corporators raising questions about the inaction on agencies erecting illegal hoardings. Around four months back, the NMC's standing committee members had come down heavily on deputy municipal commissioner RM Bahiram and had levelled allegations against him on illegal hoardings. The already cash-strapped NMC has been losing out on lot of revenue from hoardings. An inquiry committee was also set up against Bhairam "We have found an additional 21 illegal hoardings and will soon be slapping notices to the agencies for erecting these," said an NMC official.The NMC has around 150 frames for erecting hoardings but the city is abuzz with hoardings in all other places including in the lands of MSRTC. Also, some of the agencies also have to pay for the legal hoardings as these have exceeded the time limit.
