1.8 lakh people in Gautam Budh Nagar to be screened to identify TB cases

Bhargava said that there is no separate ward for TB patients in the Noida district hospital so far. The health department has formed 90 teams consisting of three members each, who would visit each house for inspection.So far, the district health department has found 191 TB patients in the district and they are undergoing treatment. Noida: The health department has launched a door-to-door survey–Active Case Finding–for identification, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis patients in the district.A total of 1.8 lakh people will be examined in this exercise.Anurag Bhargava, chief medical officer, Gautam Budh Nagar, said that TB is curable but nearly 4.8 lakh people die annually in the country due to tuberculosis. He added that according to the state government’s directions, three campaigns will be launched in June, September and December this year and one in February 2019 for the survey.
