Noida SHO suspended on graft charges, FIR against 12 cops

NOIDA: The station house officer of Sector 58 police station and a senior sub-inspector posted at the same station have been suspended following an allegation that they demanded Rs 18 lakh from a call centre owner to settle a “false case” against them.The suspension was ordered after the matter reached director-general of police OP Singh on Monday. Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Ajay Pal Sharma said: “They (Bisht and the others) had also complained that computers sets at the call centre had been seized forcibly.”Rahul Srivastava, spokesperson for the DGP, confirmed to TOI that the officer had taken cognisance of the matter and ordered action against the accused policemen. An FIR has been lodged against the SHO , Anil Pratap Singh, SSI Rajesh Kumar Singh and 10 or 12 other policemen under sections 361 (kidnapping from lawful guardianship), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC and Section 7/13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.Sources said the complaint had been lodged by Rahul Kumar Bisht, the owner of a call centre, and three of his colleagues who alleged that the police officers had framed them in a cheating case and demanded Rs 18 lakh to clear their name.Sources said that when the complainants approached the DGP, he conducted an internal inquiry and ordered the suspension of the officers after they were allegedly found guilty.
