GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida school where a nursery student was allegedly raped by a “pool lifeguard” didn’t get a police verification done of the accused despite hiring him over a decade ago, the district magistrate has said.It has come to light that the accused Chandi Das, who had been hired as a pump operator, would double as an attendant to students during horse-riding sessions and also man the pool when kids went for swimming.Following the death of a student in a Bhondsi school in September last year, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration had made it mandatory for all schools to send a list of documents identifying its employees.“Despite stressing on police verification of all employees, several schools have been found to have not done it. Even the school where this incident has taken place hadn’t got the accused verified. The principals of some other schools, however, pointed out that police verification was a time-taking process and a number of their applications was awaiting approval.A group of parents, especially those whose children are in the junior wing, said they would not send their kids to the school where the alleged rape took place for the time being.“We are scared about our child’s safety. We had sought concrete steps from the school to ensure the security of the students. However, we have been given no assurance so far,” said the parent of a nursery kid.The parents of the three and a half year old child said that she was still traumatised and crying intermittently. The parents said that they were talking to her continuously to make her forget the incident.Sources in Greater Noida police said they were preparing to get her statement recorded before a magistrate under CRPC Section 164.After the meeting with the district magistrate on Tuesday, the principals of some schools claimed they had sent documents related to their employees to the SSP’s office several months ago, but they were yet to get any reply from the cops.It is now mandatory for all schools in the district to share a list of peons, drivers, female attendants, gardeners, and other employees with the SSP’s office so that their verification process can be completed.Anil Pandey, the administrator of Samsara — the World Academy, said they had sent filled forms listing their employees to the police in November, but did not get any reply.Sources said such issues were discussed at the meeting on Tuesday and the magistrate was learnt to have assured the principals that the verification process would be expedited.SP (rural) Ashis Srivastava told TOI verification forms of those schools that have completed the formalities will be approved soon.
