Property dealer cheated of 3.7L by ‘cop’ in Gzb

Ghaziabad: A Hapur-based property dealer has alleged that he was cheated of Rs 3.76 lakh in cash by a man posing as a policeman in Modinagar on July 13. The property dealer, Ashok Kumar, submitted a complaint at Modinagar police station on July 19.According to police, an investigation is being held into the allegations. The mobile number is being traced. One of them identified himself as a member of Special Operations Group of the police and demanded to check my car. It seems the complainant and the purported cop were known to each other.

Ghaziabad: A Hapur-based property dealer has alleged that he was cheated of Rs 3.76 lakh in cash by a man posing as a policeman in Modinagar on July 13. The property dealer, Ashok Kumar, submitted a complaint at Modinagar police station on July 19.According to police, an investigation is being held into the allegations. Kumar said the crime occurred in front of the main gate of Modipon Colony on July 13 when he was travelling in his Santro car to Modinagar to buy goods for his daughter’s wedding.“Two men in a white car stopped near me in front of Modipon Colony. One of them identified himself as a member of Special Operations Group of the police and demanded to check my car. He found the cash and took it. He alleged that I am suspected to be dealing with counterfeit currency and the cash will be returned only after checks,” Kumar alleged.The man also shared a mobile number with Kumar so that he could keep in touch with him till the cash was returned.“The complainant claimed he spoke to the policeman on the phone in which he assured that he would return the cash soon. The mobile number is being traced. No case has been registered. It seems the complainant and the purported cop were known to each other. We are probing the veracity of the allegations,” said SHO, Modinagar, Gajendra Pal Singh.
