Parents protest at Apeejay over fee

Noida: Scores of parents of Apeejay School gathered outside the school on Saturday to protest non-compliance of UP fee ordinance by the school management. The parents who had not sent their children to school on Wednesday said some students were made to parade in the ground while others were made to write the reason in their notebooks on “Why they did not attend the school on July 18”.TOI had reported on Thursday that 1,500 parents had refrained from sending them to the school on Wednesday in a mass protest against fee hike.Parents alleged the school has effected an increase of 26% in fees for 2018-19 and was not complying with the UP fee ordinance despite letters from the senior officials of the education department.“The benefits in the form of reduction in fee according to the ordinance has not been passed on to the parents. Instead, the school has increased fee heads like electricity, health and hygiene, security etc and swimming has been made mandatory for the students,” said Yatendra Kasana, president, All Noida Schools Parents Association (ANSPA).Members of the All Noida Schools Parents Association (ANSPA) told TOI that despite repeated protests from the parents, the school was not complying with the UP Self-Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Ordinance 2018.They told TOI that the school has uploaded the fee structure of only 2018-19 on its website despite the fact that senior officials had in a meeting with the school principals last week directed them to upload the revised fee structure of four years: 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 according to the ordinance.“After the principal’s speech in auditorium, the children of class III and IV were asked to parade in the ground for not turning up.
