The accused, Ankit Sharma, is the owner of Hi Castle Realtech Limited while Sanjay Tomar is a supervisor.Ashish Shrivastava, SP (rural), Greater Noida, said the two persons were booked for damaging the sewer, water and drainage lines and illegally digging for the basement in monsoon without barricading the area.“Due to the damaged water pipes and heavy rain, there was waterlogging near the boundary wall of 13-storey Spark Divine apartment. The residents got worried and they had protested on Saturday night,” he said. The two persons were booked under sections 336 and 427 of IPC.Amit Kumar, a Spark Divine resident, told TOI that the builder had dug a huge basement next to their society. “There was a makeshift boundary wall next to the basement that tilted. The families living in the society got scared and protested,” he said.Kumar said the plot got waterlogged as the developer had made a huge pit. “Due to this, the sewer, water and drainage lines were also damaged. We reported the incident to police. The police had advised the residents to ‘evacuate’ the building for safety. However, now the situation is normal and people have returned,” he said.Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, CEO, Greater Noida Authority, said the Authority staff immediately started the relief work by deploying two de-watering pumps on the spot. “The water was removed by 11.30pm. Simultaneously, the Authority deployed three earthmovers and five dumpers to fill the gap between basement & boundary of Spark Divine society,” Sharma said. The Greater Noida Authority also levied Rs 5 lakh as penalty to the builder for the violation on Saturday.
