It took two days of non- stop work jointly carried out by the housing board, GMC and the administration to fill the trench. “We are also in talks with the GMC to assist us in constructing the road afresh,” said Singhal.Meanwhile, GMC chief engineer Mohammad Mouinuddin said that they have not received any proposal from the housing board so far.“We are ready to assist the housing board for construction of the damaged road in Vasundhara and we are awaiting a formal request from the housing board,” he said. “As of now, apart from filling the affected parts of the road with sand bags, we have also secured the edges of the trench by erecting the pillars to arrest any further cave-in,” added Singhal. The housing board, however, has said they have a tentative plan to fund the work of filling the trench.“We have Rs 8 crore that was deposited as security by the builder who owns the land where the trench exists and we have plans to use it for filling the trench. Ghaziabad: The UP housing board has sent an estimate to the state government to carry out the repair work on the Vasundhara road cave-in site.The 4,000 sqm trench in the area led to a massive cave-in due to incessant rain on the morning of July 26, forcing families to evacuate their flats.The work on road which was damaged extensively will be taken up by the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) after the trench is filled up.“We have sent an estimate to our department for filling the 4,000 sqm of trench which led to cave-in incident in Vasundhra Sector 4 C. We will begin the work as soon as the approval comes,” said KA Singhal, superintendent engineer, housing board.
