Four-member Bangladesh family living in Noida for 10 years held

NOIDA: Four members of a family from Bangladesh were arrested on Sunday for illegally staying in Chijarsi village in Noida. They have been identified as Aslam (50), wife Rahima (8), son Rubel (25) and daughter Reshma (27). They were caught during a passport verification.Akhilesh Tripathi, SHO, Phase III police station, said the family had been living illegally in Noida for the past 10 years . “The mother and son were arrested on Saturday and the father and daughter were arrested on Sunday,”said a police officer. They were trying to make passports to travel to Bangladesh and meet their relatives.Tripathi said they have been booked for illegally living in India.

They also got their Aadhaar and Pan cards in India.When Rahima and Rubel applied for Indian passport, they attached documents for proof of residence. When a police team conducted an inspection at their home for passport verification, neighbours said they were illegal immigrants secretly residing in Noida. The police interrogated the accused, who admitted they were original residents of Khulna in Bangladesh near the Indian border.The family said they had secretly entered India through West Bengal in search of a livelihood 10 years ago. They lived in slums for some years and then moved to a rented accommodation in Noida. They said they had got their Aadhaar card and Pan card through an agency. They were trying to make passports to travel to Bangladesh and meet their relatives.Tripathi said they have been booked for illegally living in India. A case has been registered against them under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and The Foreigners Act, 1946. “The mother and son were arrested on Saturday and the father and daughter were arrested on Sunday,”said a police officer.
