Youth dies in Saudi, kin seek MEA help to bring body

NOIDA: The family of a 28-year-old driver from Dankaur, who was electrocuted in Dammam Saudi Arabia , on Tuesday, has sought the help of ministry of external affairs to bring back his body. He received a visa for Saudi Arabia for the job of a heavy vehicle driver. “He said he was doing well and there were no problems at all,” said Nizam.However, on Tuesday evening, Nizam received a call from Irfan’s colleague who informed him of the tragic news. The deceased has a younger brother, Shamshad Khan (23), who assists his father in his business in Greater Noida.

The family is poor and cannot afford the expenses.Irfan Khan is survived by wife Nargis (25) and a five-year-old son. Nizam Khan, his father, is a vendor and mother, Nanno, a housewife. The deceased has a younger brother, Shamshad Khan (23), who assists his father in his business in Greater Noida. Nizam said Irfan was very enthusiastic about going abroad to earn money. Two months ago, he had borrowed Rs 1.2 lakh from a money lender and handed over to a Delhi-based consultancy. He received a visa for Saudi Arabia for the job of a heavy vehicle driver. The monthly remuneration was said to be around Rs 35,000.The family said it was a new job and Irfan has not sent any money till now.Irfan had learnt driving and also got a driving licence before he flew to Saudi Arabia on July 17 this year. Nizam said the last time he had talked to Irfan was on Sunday. “He said he was doing well and there were no problems at all,” said Nizam.However, on Tuesday evening, Nizam received a call from Irfan’s colleague who informed him of the tragic news. “It was around 6 O’ clock. I was told that Irfan was taking a stroll after lunch. He suddenly stepped on a live wire while talking on phone and was electrocuted,” he said.His friends rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. “We had lot of dreams and hopes. Now everything has gone,” he said.The family members are shattered since they heard about the incident. There is no immediate family member or relatives in Dammam. Irfan’s co-workers informed his family that the body was in mortuary and paper works were being done.A large number of family friends and relatives have gathered at the deceased’s house. Nizam said he is unable to decide whom to approach for help. Piyush Singh, circle officer, Greater Noida II said he has not received information regarding the incident. “The district administration will look into the matter and assist the family,” he said.
