STF arrests 4 in ration scam

DSP Rajkumar Mishra of Noida STF said the four accused illegally changed the Aadhaar details of ration cardholders and used their own thumbprints and UID numbers to make fake transactions in the name of real people and distributed the ration to unauthorised accounts. The accused were booked under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. GREATER NOIDA: The Noida unit of the Special Task Force ( STF ) arrested four men in Surajpur on Monday for their involvement in the ration scam, in which large-scale pilferage of rations was orchestrated by dealers across the state by rigging the public distribution system (PDS) to replace data of real beneficiaries with fake ones.The accused have been identified as Nem Singh (32), a data entry operator, Sonu (24), the driver of an area ration officer, Gaurav Joshi (30), a ration dealer, and Saurabh Singh (30), the son of a ration dealer. They made over 400 fake transactions in around three months.The accused were arre-sted after officials from National Informatics Centre and the food and public distribution department observed thefts and the multiple changes to the Aadhaar details of various cardholders and filed a police complaint.Noida STF arrested the four persons on Monday and recovered the computer used in the crime, along with four mobile phones and two electronic point of sale (PoS) machines.
