NOIDA: Six months into the academic year and the district administration is yet to implement an ordinance on fee that schools can charge. While the district magistrate says he’s yet to receive a copy of the UP school ordinance, the education minister claims the same is already in effect. The Uttar Pradesh Government Self-Financed Schools (Fixation of Fee) ordnance was cleared by Yogi Adityanath government on April 3, 2018, and was signed by the governor on April 9. As per the provisions of the ordinance, which covers all private CBSE, ICSE and state board-affiliated schools, all private schools that charge more than Rs 20,000 annually will have to revise their fee structure for all classes so as to bring down the financial burden on parents. But district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar , BN Singh, said, “Once we get a copy of the ordnance, I shall set up a committee that will look into all complaints on fee-related issues in private schools. But so far, I have not received any orders from the state government to resume action.”However, talking to TOI over the phone from Lucknow, deputy chief minister and state education minister Dinesh Sharma said the ordinance was very much in effect. “The district administrators are now empowered to implement the fee ordnance.
