2 killed as driver overtook from left on Eastern Peripheral Expressway

GREATER NOIDA: Two cousins died after a Toyota Fortuner rammed into a six-wheeler truck from behind while the SUV’ s driver overtook another car from the left side. The third brother, who was behind the wheels, survived with serious injuries.The accident occured on Sunday night on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway , just one kilometre before Kasna toll plaza . Hence they could not take a cut between the two vehicles and the car got hit from behind. Dharmendra Sharma, SHO, Greater Noida, said the three were rushed to Kailash Hospital, Kasna where Sandeep and Jitte were declared dead on arrival while Raka was admitted with serious injuries. After an autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the family,” the SHO added.

The two brothers, Jitte Bhati (24) and Raka Bhati (28), along with their cousin Sandeep (30), were coming from Tigaon Nawada area of Faridabad and going to Jitte’s house in Sirsa village in Greater Noida. But Jitte and Sandeep died on the spot.Police said Jitte and Raka were original residents of Sirsa village while their cousin belonged to Tigaon Nawada.Aashu Phalwan, a friend of Raka, told TOIthe three brothers had left from Tigaon around 12.30am on Sunday in Jitte’s car and Raka was driving it. The collision took place around 1.45am. “They must be at a speed of at least 90 km per hour. Hence they could not take a cut between the two vehicles and the car got hit from behind. The collision damaged the left side of the SUV and both Jitte who was sitting next to the driver and Sandeep who was at the back seat received serious head injuries and died on the spot while Raka survived,” he added.A passerby, who saw the accident, informed police. Dharmendra Sharma, SHO, Greater Noida, said the three were rushed to Kailash Hospital, Kasna where Sandeep and Jitte were declared dead on arrival while Raka was admitted with serious injuries. “Their family did not wish to file a complaint against anyone. After an autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the family,” the SHO added.
