NOIDA: Police had to be called in at Fortis hospital in Sector 62 on Wednesday when family members of an accident victim alleged the hospital refused to hand over the body.Arvind Sharma (38), who met with an accident in Ghaziabad on September 9, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Tuesday night. But family claimed the hospital refused to hand over the body since they could not deposit “outstanding dues of Rs 1.88 lakh”. Akash Sharma, Arvind’s nephew, said his uncle had undergone a surgery at the hospital on Friday as a dumper had run over his feet. “On Sunday, I paid the hospital Rs 2 lakh. Around 8pm on Tuesday, I got another call from the hospital saying that Rs 1.54 lakh had to be paid,” he said.Though Akash claimed he arranged the cash by borrowing from relatives, the hospital insisted on a bank transfer. “Arvind was declared dead at 11.45pm the next day.
