Aqua Line braces for second test after October 15

NOIDA: The commissioner of metro rail safety (CMRS) will conduct the second phase of inspection of the Aqua Line after October 15. On Thursday, the documentation process was completed.The two-day inspection included a full trial of the metro and test of the rolling stock of the entire corridor. The second day of the inspection included measurement of trains, rescue system, depot facilities and so on. At present, Aqua Line is undergoing full-fledged trials The CMRS, SK Pathak, is also likely to visit the depot in a few days, sources said. The railway ministry will study reports of both the phases of inspection and will then decide on the day of commissioning.

NOIDA: The commissioner of metro rail safety (CMRS) will conduct the second phase of inspection of the Aqua Line after October 15. The first phase of the inspection completed on Thursday and officials said the report on coaches was “good”.Deputy CMRS Uttam Prakash visited the NMRC depot in Greater Noida’s Sector Delta I on the second day of the inspection on Thursday and examined the rolling stock of the Aqua Line. The second day of the inspection included measurement of trains, rescue system, depot facilities and so on. On Thursday, the documentation process was completed.The two-day inspection included a full trial of the metro and test of the rolling stock of the entire corridor. The rolling stock test includes testing of the public announcement system, public information system, emergency evacuation measures, fire sensors, volume adjustment, manual line selection etc.Sources said the deputy CMRS will share his observations with the CMRS, who is the highest authority that takes a call on a metro corridor’s readiness for commissioning after checking all the technical aspects and security mechanism. The CMRS, after going through the report on the first phase of the inspection, will submit it to the railway ministry.An official said the second round of inspection for the entire corridor was expected any time after October 15. At present, Aqua Line is undergoing full-fledged trials The CMRS, SK Pathak, is also likely to visit the depot in a few days, sources said. If all goes according to the schedule, the metro route might be ready for commissioning by November.NMRC executive director PD Upadhyay said they had already invited the CMRS for the next phase of inspection of the entire line. A meeting of the board of directors of the NMRC is also slated for September 25 at Nirman Bhawan.“The quarterly meeting will see discussions on the balance sheets, finance audit reports, external audit reports, etc. It will be submitted to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG),” he said.The NMRC board has five members each from the central and the state governments.
