GHAZIABAD: A 23-year-old man has been booked for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl and trying to force her repeatedly into a physical relationship by blackmailing her with a mobile phone video that he apparently shot of the first crime.The minor girl, a Class IX student of a government school in Ghaziabad , had been raped around four months ago in a flat in Crossings Republik, where she had visited the birthday party of the accused.Police said the girl told her mother on Thursday about her ordeal and the attempts to blackmail her with the video. The accused, Imran, has been booked under Section 376 ( rape ) of the IPC and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, on a complaint by the girl.Police said Imran was absconding and they had questioned one of his close friends, Danish, in Dundaheda about his whereabouts. The girl’s parents are estranged and she lives with her mother and younger brothers, aged 8 and 10 years, in Ghaziabad.Sources said the girl is a close friend of Danish’s younger sister.“Around four months ago, Danish had come to the girl’s house and told her that his sister wanted to meet her. The girl had left home with Danish. She did not tell us the ordeal she went through that day,” the girl’s maternal uncle said.Danish had allegedly taken the girl to a flat where Imran had thrown a birthday party. She was allegedly raped there. “Imran had been threatening her ever since with a video that he had purportedly shot of the girl. He said he would upload the video on social media if she did not give in to his demands. He also threatened to kill the girl’s brothers. The girl had been resisting him all through. On Thursday, she told her mother about the ordeal,” the uncle said.
