Woman, 2-year-old son killed as truck hits scooter at Dadri toll

GREATER NOIDA: A 36-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were killed when the scooterette in which she was travelling with her husband and five-year-old daughter was hit by a truck from the side near Dadri toll gate.Police said Charan Singh (38) was coming back from Raura village of Bulandshahr with his wife Monika (36), their son Arun (2) and five-year-old daughter Dolly to their house in Khoda village of Ghaziabad when they met with the accident at Luharli village. They were declared dead on arrival at Naveen Hospital in Dadri, where all four had been rushed after the accident.Charan and his daughter Dolly suffered injuries, for which they were given first-aid and later discharged.Kuber Singh, the officer assigned to speak to the media about the case, said the accident happened when the truck driver tried to turn the vehicle to the left to enter a petrol pump at Luharli village near Dadri toll plaza on the Bulandshahr highway.“A case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver, who fled after the accident, under Sections 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code,” Singh added.
