Domestic help burgles businessman’s home, held

Police suspected the domestic help behind the crime because the robber had entered through the back door of the house, even though a security guard was stationed at the main gate.“The burglary had been committed by the domestic help alone. When he was leaving the house with the booty, he saw four persons standing on the main road. Cash and jewellery worth Rs 53,000 and valuables worth Rs 15 lakh were recovered from the arrested servant, identified as Avinash.Avinash robbed the house of Surendra Arora in Kavi Nagar, who runs a factory of machine parts. Arora had left with his family for Delhi to attend a wedding on Friday when the robbery took place. He had also kept a hammer and crowbar inside the house before leaving for the night.

GHAZIABAD: A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Sunday for allegedly robbing the house of a factory owner where he was employed as a help for the past eight months. Cash and jewellery worth Rs 53,000 and valuables worth Rs 15 lakh were recovered from the arrested servant, identified as Avinash.Avinash robbed the house of Surendra Arora in Kavi Nagar, who runs a factory of machine parts. Arora had left with his family for Delhi to attend a wedding on Friday when the robbery took place. When the family returned around 2am, they found entire house was ransacked and valuables missing. Police suspected the domestic help behind the crime because the robber had entered through the back door of the house, even though a security guard was stationed at the main gate.“The burglary had been committed by the domestic help alone. He used to leave for his rented accommodation at 9pm every day. He was aware the family would go to Delhi. He entered the house through the back door which he had left open. He had also kept a hammer and crowbar inside the house before leaving for the night. When he was leaving the house with the booty, he saw four persons standing on the main road. Afraid of being caught, he covered the booty in a bedsheet and hid it under a mound of stone chips heaped nearby for some construction work,” said Pradeep Tripathi, SHO of Kavi Nagar police station.
