I went to the Agra transport department and requested for the same. However, to my utter shock, I was told that another vehicle owner named Neetu had been running his vehicle on the same DL number. The Agra transport department has also issued a letter to the GB Nagar counterparts but to no avail,” he said.Meanwhile, the transport department officials blame the other licenceholder Neetu for no action.“We have asked Neetu to come and explain his case. He turned up once when he was asked to bring his documents and driving licencebut has not turned up since then. The process is being handled by private entities which have deployed agents for feeding the data.

NOIDA: Technical mistakes on the part of private dealers, involved in data-feeding in the transport department’s server, has become a headache for vehicle-owners who are facing problems in licence renewal. Thanks to clerical mistakes in the data entry process, two people are driving vehicles on the same driving licencenumber.According to transport department officials, complaints of this kind have been coming at the ARTO office on a monthly basis. The mistakes are especially hurting the commercial vehicle owners whose earnings depend on the vehicles.Bus driver Malkhan Singh from Agra has a bizarre case. The commercial DL holder has been running pillar to post after the licenceauthorities in Agra denied renewal of his licencestating that another vehicle holder belonging to Gautam Budh Nagar had been running his vehicle on the same DL number.Having made multiple visits from Agra to Noida, Singh is struggling to get the correct details updated in the transport department’s software.“I had to get my commercial licencerenewed since its three-year validity had expired. I went to the Agra transport department and requested for the same. However, to my utter shock, I was told that another vehicle owner named Neetu had been running his vehicle on the same DL number. I was denied the renewal,” Malkhan told TOI.As Malkhan offered the authorities to check his credentials, they directed him to the Gautam Budh Nagar transport department to get the name of the vehicle owner corrected in the Vahan 4 software. The same has still not been done despite multiple visits by Malkhan.“I have been regularly visiting Noida travelling almost 200 kilometers from my village near Agra to Noida. But, the visits have been futile so far. Since, Neetu’s driving licencetoo has been made in Agra and he has only taken a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to operate in Gautam Budh Nagar,” regional inspector (RI) Vishnu Dutt Mishra said. When contacted, Vinod Chauhan, supervisor for the MTech company responsible for the data updation at Noida’s ARTO office in Sector 32, he told TOI that it is likely that either there was a mistake in updation of details during the process of issuing NOC by the transport authorities at Agra or the mistake was committed during data entry in Gautam Budh Nagar transport department’s server after 2013.ARTO (administration), Arunendra Pandey, told TOI that every month, a few complaints of this sort were being reported to the office.“The problem has arised due to the incorrect date feeding in the software. The process is being handled by private entities which have deployed agents for feeding the data. The clerical errors committed by them are leading to this,” he added.
