#ArtMetro: Selfie points, vibrant paintings to adorn Noida Metro’s Aqua Line

Taking a cue from the Metro stations in Delhi, the soon-to-be-opened Metro stations of the Aqua Line in Noida will boast of vibrant artwork. For instance, the theme at the Sector 71 Metro station is Noida’s landscape, which will also have a selfie point at the entrance of the station. We have also painted the Aqua Line of the Metro station, which will connect Noida with Greater Noida ,” says Kunal Jain, one of the artists who conceptualized the artwork at Sector 71 Metro station. While the artwork at Sector 71 Metro station is nearing completion, painting work at 20 other stations under the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), is still underway. PD Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC, tells us that it is a part of their beautification drive at the Metro stations.

While the artwork at Sector 71 Metro station is nearing completion, painting work at 20 other stations under the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), is still underway. A number of artists have been roped in by the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, which is carrying out the project in collaboration with NMRC. PD Upadhyay, Executive Director, NMRC, tells us that it is a part of their beautification drive at the Metro stations. He says, “We hope that the stations of the Aqua Line will stand at par with the ones in Delhi.”An artwork depicting the statue of Gautam Buddha, which greets those entering Noida from the Mahamaya Flyover#feellikeaceleb: This painting at Sector 71 Metro station is aimed at making the visitors feel like celebritiesEach of the Metro stations will have different themes for their artwork. For instance, the theme at the Sector 71 Metro station is Noida’s landscape, which will also have a selfie point at the entrance of the station. “In the painting, there are people holding cameras and clicking pictures, which will make the visitors feel like celebrities. This has been designed to be a selfie point. At other places of the Metro station, we have shown the statue of Gautam Buddha, which greets those entering Noida from the Mahamaya Flyover. We have also painted the Aqua Line of the Metro station, which will connect Noida with Greater Noida ,” says Kunal Jain, one of the artists who conceptualized the artwork at Sector 71 Metro station. Other themes to be used at other Metro stations include yoga, Indian classical dance and nature, among others.According to NMRC officials, the Metro stations are expected to open to the public by the end of this year. “We are just waiting for an inspection by the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety, post which, a date will be announced for its inauguration,” adds Upadhyay.An artwork at Sector 71 inspired by the Metro’s Aqua Line
