‘Solvers’ among 7 arrested for impersonating in railway exams

NOIDA: The Special Task Force of UP Police on Friday arrested seven members of a gang, which used to send “solvers” to online railway recruitment exam in place of actual candidates, from Noida’s Sector 62 area.According to STF officers, Sumit Pehlwan, Vikrant, Naveen Malik, Sunny, Sujeet, Sanjeet and Gajendra used to morph photographs of candidates in application forms. Three of them used to appear in exam centres as “solvers” as well. He added that a diary had been recovered from the arrested persons and it revealed that the gang had taken Rs 2 crore from 200 students.“Three members of the gang were responsible for contacting candidates while three others sat for the exam. One of them, Sumit, had won a gold medal in the national junior wrestling championship in 2013 and received the job of a trackman in the railways under sports quota. Sujeet, Gajendra and Sunny, all three hailing from Nalanda in Bihar , have been identified as the ‘solvers’,” said Mishra.Mishra said the gang also used to hire students from Laxmi Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar to replace real candidates in the exam. “We are investigating the case and more names are likely to come up,” he said.STF seized three cars, Rs 4.5 lakh in cash, over 100 admit cards of students, and 85 other identity cards, including voter IDs, Aadhaar cards etc, from the spot. A total of Rs 14 lakh has also been seized from the gang’s bank account.
