GHAZIABAD: A 45-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death with a pair of scissors in Ghaziabad on Thursday during a fight with his neighbour. The incident took place at around 4pm in Balaji Vihar in Sahibabad police station area.Police have identified the deceased as Sanjay, who used to ply a water tanker in the area. The accused, Pradeep, has been arrested by police. The families of Sanjay and Pradeep live in the same lane. According to police, a fight broke out between the two when Pradeep made some unsavoury remarks about Sanjay’s daughter Nisha (20).Sanjay’s son Sonu (18), who works in an auto showroom , told TOI that Nisha had arrived from her in-law’s home on Thursday afternoon for Goverdhan Puja and Bhai Dooj “My father hadn’t been going to work for the past 15 days. We needed some money at home for the festival. My father asked Pradeep for a loan. It was in this context that Pradeep made some unsavoury remarks about Nisha. My father told Pradeep, who was drunk, to mind his language, at which he flew into a rage. Pradeep used to work in a hair-cutting saloon earlier, and had scissors and razors at home. He stabbed my father in the chest with a pair of scissors,” Sonu told TOI.Sanjay was rushed to MMG Hospital in Ghaziabad in a profusely bleeding condition. He died while under treatment a short while later.“The accused, Pradeep, has been held. It seems Pradeep and Sanjay had a dispute over a small sum of money on Thursday, which escalated into a fight.“They were friends and often ate and drank together. The body has been sent for autopsy. A case will be registered against the accused,” said deputy superintendent of police, Rakesh Mishra.
