Noida to plant 1.5 lakh saplings on Nov 17

Noida: The Noida Authority, in association with residents welfare associations, is all set to carry out a massive afforestation drive by planting 1.5 lakh saplings in 21 places in the city on November 17. With the aim to curb pollution, the Authority intends to break its own record of single-day plantation of 1.4 lakh saplings on August 15 this year.While many saplings o f trees like jamun, imli (tamarind), neem, amla, peepal, champa and lily among others will be planted, 21 locations have been shortlisted so far where Noida Authority will be doing the mega plantation drive. Some of these include the park near multi-level parking in Sector 18, green belt in Sector 16 B, auto market in central verge Sector 16, Noida stadium in Sector 21A, MP II, green belt in Sector 120, 122, 63A, Sector 108, 77, 33A and more.“We will use the help of residents and RWAs and aim to break our own earlier record of 1.4 lakh saplings that we planted on August 15 this year,” said Rajeev Tyagi, general manager, Noida Authority.
