Shops, kiosks on green belt of Amrapali Zodiac removed

“The residents of this housing society had complained to the Noida Authority about unauthorised constructions in the green belt. NOIDA: The Noida Authority on Thursday removed several unauthorised shops , kiosks and other makeshift stalls on a green belt of Amrapali Zodiac society in Sector 120.In the drive, carried out by officials of work circle 6 amid heavy police presence, a total of 12 concrete shops, 4 kiosks and several makeshift stalls that had come up on a 2,000sqm area were brought down. Similarly, there were small kiosks and other makeshift structures which were raised to the ground,” said Gautam. “The shops were all concrete and cement and it took the entire day to bring them down. A total of five excavators, a couple of digging machines, a few tipper vans and a crane were used in the demolitions.

At least five excavators, a crane and several trucks helped in the demolitions. “The residents of this housing society had complained to the Noida Authority about unauthorised constructions in the green belt. The structures were found to have come up illegally. The chief architect, town planning department, cleared all the necessary approvals and we carried out the drive on Thursday,” said RA Gautam, a senior manager in the Authority’s work circle 6, who was overseeing the drive.Amrapali resident Joginder Singh said they had sent repeated complaints to the Noida Authority about shops and kiosks coming up illegally behind the housing society, which is a green area.On Thursday, the drive began around 10.30am. The Authority team was accompanied by a huge police force. A total of five excavators, a couple of digging machines, a few tipper vans and a crane were used in the demolitions. “The shops were all concrete and cement and it took the entire day to bring them down. Similarly, there were small kiosks and other makeshift structures which were raised to the ground,” said Gautam.
