NOIDA: Three men were arrested on Friday for allegedly cheating over 100 people in bus stands and railway stations in the city with the lure of easy money over the past eight months. The three have been identified as Abid, Rakesh Kumar and Rampukar Rai. Abid and Rai are from Bihar, while Rakesh is from Jharkhand. The trio had been living in New Ashok Nagar of New Delhi for several months and targeted people mostly in Noida.“A few days ago, they had cheated an Armyman outside a private bank. The victim had lodged a complaint at Sector 20 police station. Since then, we had been looking for them,” a cop said. SP (city) Sudha Singh said the trio would approach people in bus stands and railway stations and tell them they had stolen money from their employers because they hadn’t paid them for the past six months. The accused would then say they did not have a bank account and request them to keep the cash for some time. In exchange, the accused would take money, jewellery or a cheap phone.Police have recovered two bundles of papers, with original Rs 50 and Rs 500 notes on the top and below.
