Noida: Entry cards to make parking at multi-level Sector 18 facility easier

Noida: The multi-level parking in Sector 18, which started functioning in January, can now boast of the latest digital smart parking system, complete with automatic push buttons, entry cards, magnetic sensors and LED display boards.The LED boards guide the commuter on the availability of vacant parking space, direction or floor and also display a red light for occupied bay. The parking facility remains open from 8am to midnight every day and is expected to ease vehicular pressure in Sector 18 as well as in Atta market.“We took over the work of upgrading the multi-level system to smart parking in February this year. For two-wheelers, the charge includes Rs 10 for first two hours followed by Rs 5 per hour.The project of multi-level parking in Sector 18 began in July 2013 and was set for completion by July 21, 2015. However, it was opened to public only from January 26 this year, after missing seven deadlines.

All the parking bays are monitored by CCTV cameras equipped to read number plates with a central control room.Built at a cost of Rs 7 crore and managed by DLF, the smart parking system has the capacity to accommodate 2,800 cars across eight floors and 1,000 cars on the surface area. The eight floors include 2 basements, one ground floor and 5 floors above it. The parking facility remains open from 8am to midnight every day and is expected to ease vehicular pressure in Sector 18 as well as in Atta market.“We took over the work of upgrading the multi-level system to smart parking in February this year. The total cost of converting it into smart parking has been Rs 7 crore. We will also be launching a mobile app soon which will enable a commuter to book his or her parking slot and pay through Paytm or other means,” said Rajeev Singh, executive director, central region, DLF.While there is also a central control centre monitoring all CCTV feeds and data, the current parking charge for the facility include Rs 30 for four-wheelers for two hours with a subsequent charge of Rs 10 per hour.
