Ghaziabad: A 28-year-old property dealer was found dead with a bullet injury on the forehead behind a bush 200 metres from the police outpost at Crossings Republik. The deceased, Ashwani Sharma, was a resident of Chipiyana and ran an office in the same locality along with his younger brother Mohit (25).One of Ashwani’s friends said that he had called him up under the influence of alcohol on Thursday night and told him he would commit suicide. Police, too, said preliminary investigation pointed to a suicide. Ashwani’s family, however, refused to buy the argument, pointing out that there were a few glasses and a liquor bottle in his car that was parked at some distance. The property dealer’s wallet and his mobile phone were also found at the spot, which potentially rules put any attempt at robbery.Ashwani’s uncle Ramesh Sharma alleged murder and raised a few questions for the police. “It is surely a case of murder, but the perpetrators tried to make it look like suicide. I don’t know who this friend is who is claiming to have got a call from him. If he wanted to end his life or was frustrated with anything, why did he not share anything with Mohit or any other relative? Ashwani had last spoken to my daughter-in-law around 7.30pm and enquired about our well-being. He had left office around 6pm on Thursday, but did not return home,” Sharma added. He also stressed that at least two more persons would have accompanied Ashwani in the car as there were three empty glasses on the seat and a liquor bottle. “He was shot from point-blank range between his eyebrows. His body was found lying face down. Police should look into all these circumstantial evidence,” he said.Ashwani was unmarried and lived with his younger brother and mother Radha. His father had died in 2001. Though the place where his body was found is just 200 metres from the Crossings Republik police outpost, the cops there came to know about it only in the morning. Morning-walkers had informed the police outpost around 6am.Mohit was yet to lodge a written police complaint till late on Friday evening. SP (city) Shlok Sharma said the cops would probe the case from all angles.
