‘Havan’ prompts cops to reopen five-year-old theft case

They have fooled me in the name of justice,” Madhuri said in a fresh complaint filed on Friday.A circle officer present at the office at the time of the ‘havan’ assured her of the cooperation of the police. “In 2013, the woman had filed a case of cheating against a movers and packers company, alleging that its workers had allegedly misplaced a silver crockery set, a home theatre and other valuable household items worth around Rs 4 lakh while shifting her belongings from Haridwar to Greater Noida,” said Nishank Sharma, circle officer 1, Greater Noida.“We have assured her of a re-investigation in the case and have also informed her about the uncertainty of the recovery of goods in these cases as the criminals tend to sell them soon after they steal them,” Sharma added.

GREATER NOIDA: A woman in her sixties performed havan on the compound of the SSP office’s in Surajpur area of Greater Noida on Friday in an attempt to draw the attention of senior officers to a five-year-old cheating complaint she had filed.In 2013, the woman had filed a case of cheating against a courier service company, accusing it of misplacing valuable household items along with some electronic items while shifting her belongings from Haridwar to Kasna, where she lives currently.Around 10am on Friday, the woman entered the SSP office along with all the materials required to perform ‘havan’ and started the ceremony “to purify the mind and souls of the policemen” as she was unhappy with their investigation in the case.
