Residents in Noida sectors 34 and 50 demand park upkeep

NOIDA: RWAs of sectors 50 and 34 have demanded upkeep of green belt and sector parks from Noida Authority. Lack of upkeep around the drain has led to overgrown shrubs, grass and mud mounds leading to mosquito menace for neighbouring apartments. “He will now be submitting an estimate for the job required following which we expect work to begin soon as per his assurance,” said Jain. The area is about 20 sq ft in width and stretches for about less than a kilometre. While the main drain in sector 34 is surrounded by about 20 sq ft area of overgrown shrubs and plants – presenting increasing mosquito menace for adjacent societies like Udaigiri and Dhawalgiri apartments; the central park in sector 50 has broken benches, old broken tiles on walking tracks and swings along with lack of grass upkeep.

They've also asked for a new wall for the green belt from Neo Hospital to C block, upgrading of park in E block (E- 98/41-A) and more.“We held a meeting with Noida authority officials over the development of the green belt near the big drain of our sector. Lack of upkeep around the drain has led to overgrown shrubs, grass and mud mounds leading to mosquito menace for neighbouring apartments. The area is about 20 sq ft in width and stretches for about less than a kilometre. Hence we demanded it be developed into a green belt along with the cleaning of the drain,” said K K Jain, RWA president sector 34.The meeting that was held at sector 34 community centre with Rajeev Tyagi, general manager Noida Authority, Rajendra Singh, deputy director horticulture department and other junior staff also discussed issues of pruning of trees covering overhead power cables, manure for sector parks and planting of winter plants and their overall upkeep.In another meeting the Noida authority team also addressed issues raised by sector 50 RWA where Vimal Sharma RWA president demanded expediting repair and upkeep work in central park opposite the community centre and green belts of the sector.While some work has already begun in sector 50, Tyagi issued directives on work related to sector 34 following which Rajendra Singh, deputy director horticulture undertook a tour of the problem spots near the open drain as well as the parks. “He will now be submitting an estimate for the job required following which we expect work to begin soon as per his assurance,” said Jain.
