Government schools to start from 10am in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: The district administration has revised the timings of all government schools on Friday owing to severe cold conditions in the region. However, the Ghaziabad chapter of Independent Schools Federation of India said nearly 20% schools have resumed classes in January.“Private schools have already taken a set of precautions to protect kids from biting cold apart from revising timings. The order issued for government schools on Friday will remain in force till January 31. No closure orders have been issued for schools till now. Cold conditions are expected to increase further with minimum temperatures set to hover around 6 and 7 degrees till Friday next week.Most schools in Ghaziabad are closed at present for winter vacations.

GHAZIABAD: The district administration has revised the timings of all government schools on Friday owing to severe cold conditions in the region. While government schools will now remain open only between 10 am and 3 pm, private schools were already issued an order on December 17 to begin classes from 9 am onwards.The district administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar, however, has not issued any similar orders to schools on Friday.In Ghaziabad , district magistrate Ritu Maheshwari said no orders for revision of timings had been issued for higher educational institutes. “Most private schools had already revised their assembly timings to 9am following the order in December. This order will remain in force. The order issued for government schools on Friday will remain in force till January 31. No closure orders have been issued for schools till now. We will, however, keep reviewing weather conditions and pass appropriate orders if required,” Maheshwari told TOI.On Friday, Ghaziabad recorded a maximum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius while the minimum plummetted to 8 degrees. Cold conditions are expected to increase further with minimum temperatures set to hover around 6 and 7 degrees till Friday next week.Most schools in Ghaziabad are closed at present for winter vacations. However, the Ghaziabad chapter of Independent Schools Federation of India said nearly 20% schools have resumed classes in January.“Private schools have already taken a set of precautions to protect kids from biting cold apart from revising timings. Morning assemblies are being conducted only indoors. Outdoor activities have been halted too for the time being,” federation president J K Gaur said.
