Noida: 4 Rohingya men held for theft at metro stations

NOIDA: At least four Rohingya men were among a gang of six nabbed for allegedly stealing copper wires from the premises of metro stations in Noida and Delhi. The NMRC too had written to the SSP multiple times about theft of copper wires from the premises of different metro stations on the Aqua line. The accused were arrested from near Amity Global School, Sector 44 on Sunday.According to police, the Rohingyas were involved in theft of copper wires from Okhla metro station in Delhi and from Magenta line metro stations in Noida. SHO, Sector 39, told TOI that the accused have been booked for cable theft at Jasola Vihar police station earlier. The accused would steal the copper wires after using a hasp to climb over the station’s wall.The accused, who stay near Kalindi Kunj colony, have multiple cases of theft lodged against them at Okhla police station in Delhi.

The accused would steal the copper wires after using a hasp to climb over the station’s wall.The accused, who stay near Kalindi Kunj colony, have multiple cases of theft lodged against them at Okhla police station in Delhi. Some have earlier been arrested by Delhi Police from the Jasola Vihar area. The Rohingyas—Ashokur Rehman, Mansoor Rehman, Najeer Ahmad and Lala alias Alihasan along with two others—Aslam Sheikh and Zubair Malik—have been arrested with 246-metre copper wire worth nearly Rs 10 lakh, a Swift car (DL7CN2247), a scooter (DL3SDD9149), 16 pieces of copper measuring about 400 square metre, a cable cutter, three axes meant for cutting iron, a rope, a country-made pistol with two cartridges and two knives. The accused were arrested from near Amity Global School, Sector 44 on Sunday.According to police, the Rohingyas were involved in theft of copper wires from Okhla metro station in Delhi and from Magenta line metro stations in Noida. The four Rohingyas have identity cards issued by the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees (UNHCR) which are valid till November 2020. The NMRC too had written to the SSP multiple times about theft of copper wires from the premises of different metro stations on the Aqua line. SHO, Sector 39, told TOI that the accused have been booked for cable theft at Jasola Vihar police station earlier.
