Noida: Camera, voice recorders at exam centres to keep an eye

Gautam Budh Nagar has 46 examination centres.The district inspector of schools, PK Upadhyay, said on Monday that footage from the cameras would be monitored by sector and zonal magistrates.The seating arrangement will, however, depend on the capacity of each test centre. “Some have eight rooms, others have 20 or more. At one centre, we have 32 rooms. Now, on small desks, students will be made to sit individually. If the desk is long enough, it will be shared by two students. But all rooms will be fitted with two close-circuit cameras each, one to cover the entire room and another to cover only the entrance. A video conference was held on Monday, when the chief secretary instructed all officials concerned to take proper steps to ensure copying does not take place during the exams.“There will be random checks of footage from the exam centres. Once the writing sheets are collected, the entire process of the papers being packed and loaded on to the vehicle will be recorded. If we find any gaganised cheating, FIRs will be lodged under the Gangster Act. The footage will be watched over by szonal magistrates,” DM BN Singh said.
