Noida allots Rs 2 crore for gaushala, biogas plants near Hindon

NOIDA: To develop a temporary gaushala for stray cows in Wazidpur village, Sadar tehsil, the Noida Authority has allotted Rs 2 crore, said officials. The existing gaushala has 18 cowsheds and each of them accommodates around 60-70 cattle. The new gaushala will accommodate around 600-800 cows.The gaushala will have 11 cow sheds and one shed for unwell cows and calves. The gaushala Samiti had an annual expenditure of Rs 3.30 crore last year. Besides this, the gaushala will also have two fodder storerooms, one milk collection and processing unit and one office.

The Authority will also set up two biogas plants on the campus, which will produce power using cow dung.The power will further be used in lighting and cooking on the premises, said officials. Last month, the district administration had handed over 44,250 square metre gauchar land along the banks of Hindon river to Noida Authority for this project.ACEO, Noida Authority, R K Mishra on Tuesday visited the site and directed officials to develop the gaushala in one month’s time.“The cows from the existing gaushala in Sector 94 will also be shifted here,” he said. The new gaushala will accommodate around 600-800 cows.The gaushala will have 11 cow sheds and one shed for unwell cows and calves. “There will also be a vet hospital,” said Mishra. Besides this, the gaushala will also have two fodder storerooms, one milk collection and processing unit and one office. These will be managed by Shree Jee Gausadan, which manages Sector 94 based gaushala. The gausadan has been demanding the Authority to provide additional land as the existing 7-acre campus has over 1300 cattle –800 cows, 500 calves, and 20 bulls-against 700 capacity. The existing gaushala has 18 cowsheds and each of them accommodates around 60-70 cattle. The gaushala Samiti had an annual expenditure of Rs 3.30 crore last year.
