Rs 800 crore allocated for Jewar airport in state budget

  • | Friday | 8th February, 2019

Almost one-fifth of the budget, approximately 1 lakh crore, has been earmarked for debt-servicing.As for sectoral allocation, primary education got the biggest chunk of Rs 54,000 crore, followed by scheduled caste development — Rs 26,000 crore. The minister also allocated nearly Rs 3,400 crore for the development of three new expressways — Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Gorakhpur Link Expressway. With Ganga Experessway already announced last month, the three — along with Lucknow-Agra Expressway — will cover practically the entire state. However, if one adds up the allocations of different departments going to villages — agriculture, irrigation, rural development and panchayati raj — the kitty swells to Rs 62,000 crore, showing the rural push of the Yogi government. However, there was disappointment in store for sugarcane farmers as budget had no specific allocation to clear their staggering dues, a fact highlighted by former CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
