GREATER NOIDA: A 52-year-old police post in-charge in Noida died after his Hyundai i10 allegedly rammed into an unknown vehicle near Tigri roundabout in Bisrakh early on Monday. Police said the victim was a sub-inspector and was driving back home in Pratap Vihar in Ghaziabad around 1.20am.Cops informed that Hariraj Singh was a resident of Muzaffarpur district . He was a 1986 Provincial Police Services batch passout and was deployed at Atta Chowk police post for the past six months. Prior to this, he was posted at Surajpur police station in Greater Noida.“We received information about the accident around 1.45am. Soon, a police team reached the spot and rushed the victim to nearby Vrindavan hospital in Shahberi area where he was declared dead on arrival. Prima-facie, it looks that Hariraj rammed his car into another vehicle from behind, however no vehicle was recovered from the spot other than the damaged i20 car. He was returning from Bulandshahr after completing his official work,” said Vineet Jaiswal, SP (rural).The SP added that the victim’s family has filed a complaint against the driver of an unknown vehicle.“An FIR has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. Efforts are being made to track the unidentified vehicle,” the SP said.The last rites of the SI were performed at Police Lines in Surajpur on Monday afternoon. Noida cops performed his last rites and SSP Vaibhav Krishna also paid a visit.
