NOIDA: Around 1.34 lakh new voters of Gautam Budh Nagar, who have attained the age of 18 as of January 1, 2019, will exercise their franchise to vote in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 According to the DM, total voters’ list compiled till January 31, 2019 include 14.88 lakh (14,88,988) as against 12.14 lakh (12.14053) voters of 2014 Lok Sabha elections – which is an increase of 2.10 lakh voters since 2014. In this, 1.34 lakh are new voters who have attained the age of 18 as of January 1, 2019.“Three reasons have been noted for the increase in voters which are namely, increased number of flat owners (high rise apartment residents), migrant workers and students. All new 1.34 lakh voters will be given voter cards which will be distributed by the BLOs. The PDF of their data have already been sent to Chennai for generating voter cards,” said BN Singh, district magistrate Gautam Budh Nagar.Apart from this, 4433 voters are registered as persons with disability (PWD) and have been tagged. “We are still looking for more PWDs from chief medical officer (CMO) and these will be tagged once the data comes in,” said Singh.Meanwhile, District administration and SSP Gautam Budh Nagar have begun preparations for the 17th Lok Sabha Elections 2019 to be held in coming months. Under this, while 22 nodal officers, assistant nodal officers, 112 sector magistrates, 20 zonal magistrates, three new SDMs, BDOs, new police personnel etc. have been appointed, C-Vigil App (first time an app by Election Commission of India which can be downloaded from google play store where a citizen can post any violations related of election and voting procedure) and helpline number 1950 have been put in place to address all electoral inquiries and complaints related to violation of model code of conduct (MCC).
