Two restaurant employees held for stalking a female customer

Himanshu and Pradeep were booked in a separate case based on the woman’s complaint under Section 354a (stalking) of the IPC.On Thursday morning, the accused employees were arrested near Spice Mall.

GREATER NOIDA: Two employees of a restaurant located in Spice Mall in Noida were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stalking a 22-year-old student of mass communication.The woman claimed that they had been sending her inappropriate messages on Whatsapp and social media after obtaining her contact information on the pretext of getting feedback on an order.On Wednesday, the woman visited the restaurant, Rasoi E Punjab, with three of her friends to confront the accused. A brawl ensued and the owner of the restaurant called police. However, the accused managed to run away before police arrived at the scene.The woman claimed that one of the employees, Pradeep, had taken her phone number to get feedback on an order but then started sending her messages and shared her contact number with another colleague.“I had gone to the restaurant on February 4 and ordered a dish for takeaway. As I was making the payment, the man at the counter asked for my phone number and said that I would receive a call for feedback on the order. Next morning, I started receiving texts on WhatsApp regarding the feedback but I decided to ignore the same. However, the man did not stop and started sending me more texts. He even sent me an old picture of mine, which he possibly downloaded from my Facebook account,” she said.After receiving many texts, she blocked the phone number but then she started getting calls from other numbers.She said, “After blocking him, I started getting calls from a man named Himanshu, who said lewd things. I shared what was happening with four of my friends, who accompanied me to the restaurant on Wednesday afternoon. I spotted the man who had taken my number and asked him to call Himanshu but he refused and initially denied the whole incident. However, he later confessed that he had sent the texts and made the calls, and started fighting with my friends.”After police arrived at the scene, the four men who were with the woman were booked for disturbing peace under Section 151 of the CrPC. Himanshu and Pradeep were booked in a separate case based on the woman’s complaint under Section 354a (stalking) of the IPC.On Thursday morning, the accused employees were arrested near Spice Mall. “They had been allegedly sending calls and messages to the girl and were sent to jail after being produced in court,” said Pradeep Tripathi, SHO, Sector 24 police station.TOI tried to contact the restaurant owner several times but all the calls went unanswered.
