Chennai: After Congress chief Rahul Gandhi`s successful interaction with students at the Stella Maris college in Chennai, the Directorate of Collegiate Education has issued a circular to the Regional Joint Director questioning how the campus was used for a discussion involving a political leader when the Model Code of Conduct was in place.

The circular issued to the Joint Regional Director demanded an explanation as to why the meeting was conducted in Stella Maris College. The Joint Regional Director is yet to seek an explanation from the college. The Congress party in a tweet has also responded to the circular issued to the Regional Joint Director. Rahul Gandhi addressed around 3000 students at Stella Maris College on March 13, the day he came to kick start the UPA campaign rally from Nagercoil, Kanyakumari.

Rahul Gandhi was at Stella Maris College in Chennai as part of his awareness campaign for the upcoming elections. The Congress President let go of his trademark white kurta-pyjama and chose a grey T-shirt and a pair of denims for his address at the girls` college. Once in Stella Maris, Rahul Gandhi got on the stage to take questions from the girls seated below.

Rahul Gandhi also won hearts when he asked one of the students to not call him `sir`but `Rahul`. "Hi Sir," as the girl began her question, Rahul interrupted him. "Can you call me Rahul instead of Sir? Makes me more comfortable," said Gandhi to hoots and cheers from his audience. After a nervous giggle, Azra, the Fine Arts student, continued with her question... with extra emphasis on "Rahul". Rahul Gandhi won the students over, as he did social media.
