Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Saturday said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into politics will make ‘no difference’ to the BJP’s poll prospect in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.The Congress has made her (Priyanka) its general secretary (in-charge of eastern UP) this time. It is an internal matter of that party. Earlier too she had campaigned for the Congress. This time also it will make no difference (to the BJP),” he told news agency PTI. Adityanath also took a dig at the newly formed SP-BSP alliance in the state saying it is already “embroiled in dispute”.
Dismissing the SP-BSP alliance as ‘false alarm’, Adityanath said, “The newfound alliance is already embroiled in dispute. It (alliance) is nothing but a ‘hauaa’ (false alarm).” The Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting from Aprill 11.
In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Gandhi was in active politics in January. His brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi appointed him the party general secretary and handed over the responsibilities of the UP-East. In Uttar Pradesh, SP and BSP are coming together in the Lok Sabha elections. The consent between the two has also been made in the seats. In the state, the Samajwadi Party will contest 37 seats, while the BSP is contesting 38 seats. Three seats have been given to the National Lok Dal (RLD). He will contest from Mathura, Muzaffarnagar and Baghpat. Rae Bareli and Amethi Lok Sabha constituencies have been left to Congress. However, they have not been made part of the alliance.
