Modern guns, gadgets for Provincial Armed Constabulary , says top cop

Ghaziabad: The Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) will be equipped with modern weaponry like MP5 submachine guns soon, ADG (PAC) Binod Kumar Singh, who visited the city on Monday, said. The decision to improve weaponry used by the PAC is crucial ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A considerable section of the force is used during the elections.Singh told a news conference that the government had for long been looking into the proposal of providing modern weapons and gadgets to the battalions. At present, the force is equipped with SLRs (self-loading rifles).Singh added that under the modernisation plan, control rooms on each PAC campus would also be enhanced and the forced is being trained on how use the modern guns . He added that senior officials had been asked to open their official Twitter accounts and share the positive developments of the department.

He added that senior officials had been asked to open their official Twitter accounts and share the positive developments of the department. “It is very important for keeping the morale of the force high. PACs have been doing a range of work, from providing security at metro stations in the state (for instance in Noida and Lucknow) to guarding the Kumbh Mela venue.”The officer said special focus is being given to soft skill training of the personnel. “With changing times, this is very important. Personnel need to be strict, yet show respect to people while dispensing their duty.”
