Greater Noida: Eight persons, including seven officials of the Noida Power Company Limited ( NPCL ), which supplies power to a greater part of rural Gautam Budh Nagar, have been booked after three children got electrocuted when they came in contact with a circuit breaker at a substation on Wednesday. The officials have been booked under Section 304 of the IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).Among those named in the FIR are CEO RC Agrawal, assistant engineer Atish Ranjan, junior engineer Dhirendra, engineer Mohan Singh, assistant manager Vishwakarma, DGM Shushank Andre, general manager Sarnath Ganguly and “other officials”.The FIR has been lodged on a complaint by Pappu, father of one of the three children who died, Golu. Pappu alleged that the main gate of the substation was broken and the shutter of the main room of the panel box open.According to the FIR lodged on Thursday, the children — Golu (10) from Moradabad, Sagar (12), a resident of Bulandshahr who studied in Class II and Rinkoo (10) from Mahoba, another Class II student — were playing in Phi 3 sector near the substation. They had inadvertently entered the premises of the substation.“Due to the high voltage current in the panel, the kids got electrocuted. The incident happened due to the negligence of the CEO RC Agrawal, assistant engineer Atish Ranjan, junior engineer Dhirendra, engineer Mohan Singh, assistant manager Vishwakarma, DGM Shushank Andre, general manager Sarnath Ganguly and ‘other officials’, the FIR states. Ajay Kumar, the SHO of Kasna police station, said an FIR had been lodged and arrests would also be made after investigation.Meanwhile, after news of the FIR spread, NPCL officials met the family members of one of the children at their office.Pappu told TOI that officials of NPCL had contacted them and he had visited the office along with some residents of Vrinda City.All the children belonged to poor families. While Pappu is a gardener in Amity university, the parents of the other two children work as labourers.Contacted, NPCL spokesperson Sarnath Ganguly said they were aware about the FIR mentioning senior NPCL officials. “Let the police investigate the matter. We will not comment before investigation,” he said.
