Woman dies, husband injured as car rams truck on Yamuna e-way

The driver of the truck had fled the spot after the accident and the family has not given any complaint as yet. The woman was declared dead on arrival while the husband was admitted to the ICU. “We received information about the accident around 6.20am after a passerby dialled 100 and informed us about the accident. However, he is barely talking to anyone,” said Brijesh.Pathak said there had been no complaint in the case so far. A police team was immediately sent to the spot and it rushed the two victims to the nearby Kailash Hospital in Kasna.

Greater Noida: A 27-year-old woman died and her husband survived with minor injuries when the Volkswagen Polo in which they were travelling rammed into a truck near Zero Point on the Yamuna Expressway on Monday morning.Anshika Shrivastava (27), a resident of Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar who worked with Royal Bank of Scotland, lived with her husband Navneet Shrivastava (32), a software engineer at Tech Mahindra. The accident occurred around 6.15am when the Polo crashed into the truck from behind.Police said the couple were returning home to New Ashok Nagar after celebrating Holi with their relatives in Kanpur. “We received information about the accident around 6.20am after a passerby dialled 100 and informed us about the accident. A police team was immediately sent to the spot and it rushed the two victims to the nearby Kailash Hospital in Kasna. The woman was declared dead on arrival while the husband was admitted to the ICU. Prima facie, it seems that the car was speeding. The driver lost control of the car and rammed into a truck on the left, where the woman was sitting,” said Arvind Pathak, the station house officer of Knowledge Park police station.Navneet’s father Brijesh Shrivastava told TOI that the couple got married only a year ago and had no kids. “The two had left Kanpur around 11.45 on Sunday night as they had to join work on Monday morning. My son is in shock after the accident. Doctors have shifted him to the general ward. However, he is barely talking to anyone,” said Brijesh.Pathak said there had been no complaint in the case so far. “An autopsy was conducted. The driver of the truck had fled the spot after the accident and the family has not given any complaint as yet. If they lodge a complaint, due action will be taken,” Pathak added.
